Frequency of intercourse and a full history whether full penetration has been achieved or not should be specifically asked.
Personal History
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Drug addiction
- Testosterone / Steroid injections for body building
- Kind of work / Work place
Past Medical History
- Childhood Mumps (Orchitis) – Secondary testicular atrophy
- TB (Orchitis) – Atrophy
- HT, DM, Psychosis, BA, Epilepsy – Treatment may lead to erectile dysfunction
- STDs – Urethritis, Epididymitis
Past Surgical History
- H/0 Trauma (May lead to Azoospermia)
- Type, Age
- Surgery, Testis Affected or not
- Orchidectomy / Orchidopexy (H/o Undescended testes)
- Vasectomy (Obstructive Azoospermia)
- Hydrocele / Varicocele/Hernia repair
- Testicular Aspiration or Biopsy
Family History
- Cystic fibrosis mutations
- Y chromosome microdeletions
- Carcinoma – Hereditary inheritance (Non Obstructive Azoospermia)
Examination
Assessing testicular volume ,location , varicocele , collection and the presence of any examination is very important part of Male Infertility Diagnosis.
